Residents of Grey and Bruce counties are invited to learn and celebrate the Hindu culture at a community open house on August 13 in Kincardine. Participants can take part in yoga and enjoy traditional Hindu food, music, and dancing. Everyone is welcome at the free event, which runs from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Victoria Park in Kincardine. The event is being hosted on behalf of the Swajan Samanvay Sanatan Centre, Municipality of Kincardine, Welcoming Communities Grey Bruce, and Grey Bruce Local Immigration Partnership (GBLIP).
The Hindu community in Grey Bruce is growing and is positively contributing to the region in several areas. This open house is an opportunity to ‘Embrace Diversity Through Dialogue’ and explore Hindu culture within the Canadian multicultural mosaic. The open house will allow the community to experience, celebrate, and learn more about Hindu culture and traditions.
The Grey Bruce Local Immigration Partnership (GBLIP) recognizes that immigration will continue to play a key role in the economic future of Grey and Bruce Counties. To support better immigration outcomes, the Partnership administers a collaborative, community initiative designed to improve the integration of newcomers in Grey Bruce.
"Bruce County and Grey County are exciting places to live and work. Our GBLIP partnership is attracting new residents, fostering a community that is welcoming and inclusive, and is supporting newcomers in becoming fully engaged in the social, economic, political, and cultural life of our region. It is wonderful to see local multicultural activities being highlighted," said Bruce County Warden Janice Jackson.
Grey County Warden Selwyn ‘Buck’ Hicks echoed Warden Jackson, encouraging the community to come and enjoy the event.
“A key part of being a welcoming community is creating opportunities for families and neighbours to come together, share traditions and learn from one another. What better way to meet your neighbours than to share in an exciting afternoon of great music and delicious food?” said Warden Hicks.
Canada has become a multicultural, vibrant, and diverse nation. Canadians believe in unity in diversity, where people from various ethnic backgrounds live in harmony while collectively contributing to the nation’s progress. Canada has embraced many world cultures, and numerous Canadian towns and cities celebrate their diversity by introducing people to new cultures and cuisines through cultural festivals and events.
